Teaching in the Arts

Rise Up Singing (STEM Prep)

We started SongCorps, a journey through American history in song, 5 years ago with the Hunts Point Alliance for Children in the Bronx. Now taking root in Nashville in a revised form as Rise Up Singing!

I currently work as a Teaching Artist for the Tennessee Performing Arts Center, going into both schools and alternative learning centers. Read about a recent visit to Station Camp HS here!

Lincoln Center Theater

The Songwriting in Schools Program is one of the best things going as far as arts-in-schools goes. I love getting to work with this remarkable organization.

Though my role now is as a consultant, for 4 years I had the pleasure of composing songs for and leading the chorus of the Hunts Point Children's Shakespeare Ensemble. The new connection to The Public Theater promises to bring exciting new things to the HPCSE.

...all over the world!

One of the great joys of the last few years of my life has been my connection to the Willow Globe Theater in Wales. I got to teach songs and talk Shakespeare at a conference there recently and fell in love. Our daughter's name even comes from this magic place!

(and coaching!)

After 4 years at The School at Columbia in NYC, I'm now the head cross country coach at Valor Collegiate, a charter school in Nashville. There is nothing better than running outside in the fall!
